The food ball is made of metal and powder coated. The ball can be filled with hay, grass etc. and is easy to hang in the cage. The food ball is the ideal way to keep your rodent busy in an animal-friendly way and to make it playfully try to get to the food.
In addition, the feed ball is a hygienic way to provide hay. It prevents contamination of the feed by feces and urine.
The distance between the bars is 8 cm x 2 cm at the widest point for the Feed Ball, 12 cm x 3 cm at the widest point for the Feed Ball and 16 cm x 3.5 cm at the widest point for the Feed Ball.
This hay rack is suitable for use as enrichment. It is an extra challenge because the animals have to make a little more effort to get the hay out of the rack. In addition to this hay rack for enrichment, there should always be a basic hay rack present so that the animals always have hay at their disposal.
For additional safety, the "12 cm" and "16 cm" models are equipped with a protective ring, which prevents the leg from getting caught, for example.
A good quality hay rack should be designed so that rodents can put their snouts between the bars, but not their entire head. The appropriate bar spacing depends on the species and size of the animal. In general, the following spacings are recommended:
Guinea pigs: about 3 cm
Degus: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Chinchillas: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Dwarf rabbits: about 3 to 3.5 cm
Medium rabbits: up to about 4 cm
Large rabbits: up to about 4.5 cm
It is very important that the animals cannot put their heads through the bars, because otherwise they can get trapped. This is different if the bars are very far apart and the animals can easily move their heads back and forth. If you notice that your rodent's head just fits through the bars and could possibly get trapped, it is advisable to remove the hay rack from the enclosure and choose one with a smaller bar distance.

Prima helemaal wat de cavia's nodig hebben
De kleine variant heeft een sluiting die niet optimaal werkt. Verder goed in gebruik.
Top product!
