Are Rats Litter Trained?
Make grateful use of the fact that rats are clean animals. Start as soon as possible with the toilet training of the rats. First you have to find out where the rats do their business. Then you have to place or hang a toilet in that place, but be careful! Rats are lazy and will prefer the closest place. Do you have multiple floors? Then place multiple toilets to increase the chance of success!
How to Litter Train Rats?
To help the Rats, it is best to initially put the droppings that are still placed next to the toilet in the toilet yourself. In this way you give a signal that it should only happen in that place. The animals will follow the scent and do their business in that place.
As an additional tool, there is the pee stone! Rat experts agree that rats, for whatever reason, love to pee on and around a stone. This can therefore be a perfect tool for house training the animals.
Which filling is suitable for the Rat Toilet?
An ideal filling for the toilet are special toilet fillers, these are specially made for a toilet and retain pee and unpleasant odors better. Ground covers can also be used for this, take for example a firm granule such as Cotton N Pellets . This is the best filling for the rat toilet!
Please note! Especially at the beginning of toilet training, use a different litter in the toilet than in the rest of the cage, there must be a difference so that the animals understand that it is something else where they have to do their business.
