Rat Snacks come in different types, but not all snacks are equally suitable for Rats. Fortunately, we have put together a nice selection of snacks that are not only suitable, but also popular with Rats and are responsible!

What snacks do Rats like?

Rats like almost everything. They are not only foodies, but also very grateful for what they get. Rats especially like snacks with seeds, proteins and fruits. Snacks with fibres are often less popular, but tastes can also differ there.

How many snacks can Rats have?

That depends a bit on the type of snack, but also on the condition of the Rat. Overweight Rats should snack a bit less, while young and active Rats can get an extra snack.

How to Feed Snacks to Rats?

That also depends a bit on the snack, but the best way is of course feeding from the hand. In this way the animals get used to your hands and they start to associate the hands with something positive and they become tame more quickly. Feeding snacks from the hand is a nice way to build a bond with your Rats.

In addition, snacks can also be scattered loosely throughout the enclosure, so that the animals have to search for them. This provides a great deal of challenge and also joy when they have found something. Scattering snacks around the enclosure promotes the natural behaviour of the animals and stimulates foraging (searching for food). This also makes the animals less bored and can even prevent problem behaviour.

Snacks can also be given as a reward during training. As we know, Rats are very intelligent animals that learn very quickly and with a tasty reward they will do their best twice as hard.
