Rats are social animals; they prefer to lie together in a hammock. Rats are very good climbers and prefer to sleep high in the cage. It is best to hang the hammocks high in the cage for them.
Are rat hammocks suitable for every season?
Many hammocks have a warm and a cold side. The warm side is covered with sheepskin (imitation) and the cold side is nylon. Rats almost always sleep together, which keeps them nice and warm, but they certainly appreciate a warm hammock! In the summer when it is a bit warmer, you can offer the Rats the cool side. They will be very happy with it!
What size hammock for the rat?
Although you can also use the smaller sizes of hammocks, the larger ones from 28/30 cm are the best. Do you have a large group of Rats? Then 45 cm is even better.
Chew your hammock to pieces?
Hammocks are very popular with rats, but unfortunately not gnaw-proof. To give the hammock a long life, we recommend giving young rats enough distraction. Gnawing on a hammock often arises from boredom or lack of nesting material . Rats like a nice soft bed to sleep in, if they lack this, they will use the hammock instead.

TIP! Rats are playful and active animals. Give them lots of toys , climbing materials , nibbles , platforms, tunnels, houses , etc. so they don't get bored. If you have the idea that there is almost no room to add something to the cage, then the design is Rat-friendly!
