What is an ideal bar spacing for a hay rack?
At DRD Knaagdierwinkel® we pay attention to the safety and comfort of your furry friends. Choose vertical bars with a distance that allows them to stick their nose through, but not squeeze their head through. We recommend the following bar spacings for guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas and degus:
Guinea pigs: about 3 cm
Degus: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Chinchillas: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Dwarf rabbits: about 3 to 3.5 cm
Medium rabbits: up to about 4 cm
Large rabbits: up to about 4.5 cm
Make sure you choose the correct bar spacing that is suitable for your rodent or rabbit. This ensures that they can eat safely and comfortably from the hay rack.
