Are rabbits potty trained?
Rabbits are often house-trained animals by themselves, they often choose one corner in their enclosure where they do their business. We can make good use of this by installing a toilet. Besides being very hygienic, it also saves time and cleaning work. If your rabbits don't do everything in the toilet, we have a number of tips.
How can you potty train a rabbit?
It is important to use a different ground cover in the toilet than in the rest of the enclosure. This way the rabbits can clearly distinguish between the place where they do their business and the place where they can lie down. Rabbits often eat and defecate at the same time. A good tip for toilet training rabbits is to hang the hay rack above the toilet.
Rabbits are very clean animals, they do not appreciate a dirty toilet and will not use it if it is not fresh. In addition, rabbits prefer a spacious toilet. Most traditional rodent toilets are unfortunately too small for rabbits, but we are happy to help you with a wide collection of suitable rabbit toilets.
Is a toilet for guinea pigs useful?
Guinea pigs are herbivores (plant eaters). The Guinea pig's digestion is kept going by the food that passes through it, so these animals must have access to hay throughout the day. Due to this special digestive system, guinea pigs poop a lot where they eat. If they stop to nibble at the hay rack, it may be an idea to place the toilet just under the hay rack so that the animals (unconsciously) do their business in the toilet. In this way, a large part of the feces can be collected and the rest of the ground cover remains clean for longer.
