Is the Hazelnut Harvest suitable for Hamsterscaping?

Of course! It is very nice to use for hamster scaping , not only as a natural decoration, but also as a healthy and natural gnawing material to wear down the animals' teeth. It is actually a very natural approach to how animals in the wild wear their teeth too, they do this by gnawing on different types of branches, so in that sense the Hazelnut harvest appeals to the natural behavior of rodents and rabbits!

Do all Rodents and Rabbits like the Hazelnut Harvest?

Yes definitely! The Hazelnut Harvest falls under the harvest with leaves , which is different from harvest with seeds or harvest with herbs . The harvest with leaves is best suited as food for herbivorous (plant-eating) rodents (guinea pig, chinchilla, degu) and rabbit. These animals like to eat the leaves as a source of fiber and then nibble on the branches with the additional function of wearing down their teeth.

Granivorous (seed-eating) rodents, such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils and rats, are less likely to eat the leaves; they only do this when they need extra fiber. The Hazelnut harvest will mainly be used as an additional source of fiber and as healthy gnawing material for these animals.

Is rodent wood important for rodents?

Some rodents gnaw wood very actively and others not at all. On the one hand it is a matter of taste, but on the other hand it is a matter of need. If a rodent has no need to gnaw because its teeth are kept in good length through food, hay or other nibbles, it will gnaw less on wood. It is good to always offer natural gnawing material so that the animals can always gnaw when they need to gnaw.

Rodents use rodents to wear down their teeth. Because rodents' teeth are always growing, they need to be gnawed regularly so that they do not grow too long and crooked.

How long does the Hazelnut Harvest last?

This varies greatly for which animal you use it and what the animals' gnawing needs are. If they have a great need to gnaw and the teeth are desperately needed to be sharpened, the harvest will be nibbled quickly, but in practice we actually see that animals regularly nibble on it and that the harvest lasts several changes.

Does the harvest always have such beautiful green leaves?

Unfortunately, that is not always the case. The harvest is dried so that the leaves are also dried. Just like in nature, the leaves quickly detach when they are dry. In addition to the drying process, nature also influences the shape and richness of this natural product and it can differ significantly from the harvest in the photo shown.

What is the function of Hazelnut Harvest?

Initially, the JR Farm Hazelnut harvest has the function of gnawing wood to wear down the teeth. The dry leaves that travel on the twigs or in the packaging are an additional source of fiber for the animals or can be used as a green decoration for hamster hunting. Finally, the Hazelnut harvest can be used as decoration for hamster scaping.

How is the Hazelnut Harvest stored with us?

It is nice to know that we receive this harvest directly from the manufacturer and can therefore offer very good freshness. In our warehouse the harvest is stored cool, dry and UV-free. The latter is important to prevent the breakdown of nutrients by UV light. We therefore recommend that you always store the harvest in a dark, cool and dry place.

De bladeren waren bij mij al af de takjes toen ik het pakket binnen kreeg, maar misschien verschilt dit per pakketje. De bladeren vonden mijn konijnen en cavia’s wel lekker maar met de takjes deden ze niks.

  • + Hoeveelheid was prima
  • + Konijnen en cavia’s waren fan van de bladeren
  • - Kwaliteit was niet goed
  • - Takjes vonden de konijnen niet lekker
