Good home for the Hamster or Dwarf Hamster
A good hamster house is large enough for the hamster. The animal must be able to sleep comfortably in its home and preferably be able to make a nest. Even if hamsters get their own home, they continue to make litters. This is instinctive behavior that is very important for the animals.
Hamster house for the Dwarf Hamster or Golden Hamster
A house from 9 cm is suitable for a dwarf hamster house . For a Syrian Hamster house (Golden Hamster), a house from 20 cm is a lot more pleasant. Because there is a lot of size difference between the hamsters, it is important to look at the dimensions of the house, but also at the dimensions of the openings in the house.
Is an open-bottomed hamster house better?
Houses with an open bottom are preferred. These ventilate better and become less dirty. If the hamster decides to do his business in the house, there is at least no floor that can get dirty.
Should a hamster house be large or small?
It is good to give the Hamster either one large house or several small houses. In a large house, the hamster can also store his supplies in it. If the house is too small, he can place his supplies in another house.
What is the function of a hamster house?
The houses can have different functions. There are houses that are also suitable as a sandbox or houses that consist of multiple floors, rooms or a tunnel system.
Do you need to be able to see into the hamster's house?
It can sometimes help to draw out the dimensions that we have for the houses. This way you get a better feel for the size of the house. Take a ruler and draw 20 by 20 by 15 cm on a piece of paper, then you know exactly how much space your hamster will have.

You can read in the article specifications for which animal a particular article is suitable. For example, the houses say "Hamster" or just "Dwarf Hamster". By "Hamster" we mean all hamster species and by the dwarf hamster only dwarf hamster species.
Which material is best for the hamster house?
In itself, it does not matter to the hamster which material you choose for your hamster house. For yourself it may be a matter of taste or the theme of the hamster enclosure. For example, a wooden house for a jungle theme or a plastic house for a Christmas theme. Fortunately, the choice is huge!
How should you clean a hamster house?
Cleaning wooden houses used to be very difficult. We do not recommend immersing wooden houses in water, because the adhesive layer can come loose. A very useful cleaning product is CSI Urine Spray or Ecopets Urine Buster . Both products work on an enzyme basis.
