What is a Willow Bridge?

A Willow Bridge is a (flexible) bridge made of willow sticks. The sticks are 100% natural and untreated, so they are also safe to gnaw on. The sticks are connected to each other by means of thick iron wire. The iron wire is flexible, which means the bridge can be bent into all kinds of shapes, which is really fun for variation!

How do you use the willow bridge for small rodents?

The Willow Bridge is available in different sizes. Depending on the rodent and the purpose, a suitable size can be selected. For small rodents such as: Mouse, Dwarf hamster, Hamster and Gerbil, the smallest Willow Bridge is already particularly spacious. This can be used for small rodents as a spacious sleeping house/hiding place or as a bridge/step to a higher or different part of the enclosure.

Can the bridge be used as a wall to keep out ground cover?

Yes, that is possible, but we recommend covering the top of the bridge with moss, for example. So that the animals cannot get their paws stuck in the cracks of the moss.

How can I use the Willow Bridge for larger rodents?

For larger rodents, the Willow Bridge will mainly be used as a bridge and not so often as a sleeping house. However, many larger rodents do like to hide under the Willow Bridge. The largest rabbits even manage to squeeze themselves under the Willow Bridge, which can sometimes be a funny sight. In addition, the Willow Bridge also gives the larger rodents the opportunity to gnaw. This is nice, because the animals will then not gnaw on parts of the enclosure and unwanted gnawing behavior is prevented.

Is the willow bridge nail-free?

Yes, the Willow Bridge is completely nail-free and also contains no staples. The only thing that is processed in the bridge is the iron wire. However, the iron wire is processed in a very safe way so that the animals do not come into contact with it.

Which rodents is the Willow Bridge suitable for?

In principle, the Willow Bridge is suitable for all rodents and rabbits. However, the objective does play a role here, for example, the smallest Willow Bridge will be too small as a hiding place for a rabbit and the largest will be too big as a hiding place for a mouse. With regard to gnawing, all rodents may gnaw on the bridge because willow is a safe type of wood for the animals to gnaw on.
