Product description

Anti-Myiasis (maggot disease) spray 75 ml

Beaphar Anti-Myiasis (Ivermectin 0.5 mg/ml), skin spray for rabbits and guinea pigs for the prevention and control of Myiasis (maggot disease caused by the blue-green blowfly).

Myiasis in rabbits and guinea pigs is mainly caused by the blue-green blowfly that lays eggs in caked feces, wounds or a foul-smelling fur. The maggots from the eggs eat through the skin and can cause blood poisoning or infections, which can cause the animal to die within 24 hours.

Please note! This product kills the eggs and maggots of the fly that causes Myiasis. Not the adult fly. If you see maggots on the animal, contact your vet immediately.

Works against eggs and larvae of the fly that causes maggot disease
Provides 2-3 months of protection
Easy application by means of a spray bottle

Especially in spring when temperatures start to rise and the bugs wake up, myiasis is lurking. It depends a bit on the weather, but usually the blue-green blowfly becomes active around April. It remains active until November. When these flies are active, rabbits are at risk of Myiasis.

Instructions for use and dosage Beaphar Anti-Myiasis

Directions for use and dosage: Remove any feces and ensure good hygiene in the cage. Spray the correct amount (see table) on the back of the animal. Start under the tail / between the hind legs. Then from the tail to the middle of the back. Bathing can reduce the effectiveness of the product.

Dosage: Body weight in kg | Number of times to spray
0.5 - 1.0 | 5
1.0 - 1.5 | 7
1.5 - 3.0 | 9
> 3.0 | 15

During the period that the blue-green blowfly is active, treat monthly (depending on weather conditions usually April to November). Do not repeat the treatment within 4 weeks.

Ingredients : Ivermectin 0.5 mg/ml
Additions : Not applicable
Duration of action: 1 month

If maggots are visible, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Measures to prevent Myiasis

! Protect the enclosure against flies, for example with fly screens or a mosquito net
! Keep the enclosure clean, use a substrate that absorbs urine well
! Prevent diarrhea in rabbits; do not give too many vegetables and fruits, give food with sufficient crude fiber and give unlimited hay
! Clean up leftover fruit and vegetables, as these attract flies
! Check the rabbit daily, especially the back and bottom. This should be clean and dry. Of course, there should be no bugs/maggots visible
! The coat can be cleaned with a comb and/or Beaphar shampoo for rodents and rabbits
! Treat rabbits preventively with Beaphar Anti-Myiasis this spray protects against maggot disease. Start spraying in time and continue long enough; flies are active from April to November. The advice is to treat monthly.

Een super goed product, al vele jaren in gebruik en zeer content van. Ik gebruik het zelfs in de toiletje van mijn konijn voor ik de bodembedekking erin doe.
