Finally a hay rack that has really been thought through! This hay rack can be approached from two sides, so that the animals can choose their own side without arguing. In addition, this hay rack provides extra space for tasty veggies or other snacks that can be placed in the openings on the side. As the icing on the cake, the hay rack stands on a platform that catches most of the residual hay. The hay rack can also function as a lookout post, because the hay rack is so sturdy, the animals can safely use the roof as a seat. This hay rack also ensures that the hay can be given in a hygienic way, because it is protected from below by the plateau, so no poop or pee can get to it and it is closed from above.
✔ 100% Natural and very spacious!
✔ With closed bottom to collect hay leftovers
✔ Safe with a roof so that the animals cannot jump into the hay rack, but can still sit comfortably on the roof
✔ With snack openings on the sides
Yes, absolutely! This hay rack is the perfect basic hay rack in our opinion. The rack provides sufficient space for the animals and also sufficient space for a lot of hay. It is a very spacious rack, where the animals can eat very comfortably. You also have to refill less often than with a smaller hay rack.
A good quality hay rack should be designed so that rodents can put their snouts between the bars, but not their entire head. The appropriate bar spacing depends on the species and size of the animal. In general, the following spacings are recommended:
Guinea pigs: about 3 cm
Degus: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Chinchillas: about 2.5 to 3 cm
Dwarf rabbits: about 3 to 3.5 cm
Medium rabbits: up to about 4 cm
Large rabbits: up to about 4.5 cm
It is very important that the animals cannot put their heads through the bars, because otherwise they can get trapped. This is different if the bars are very far apart and the animals can easily move their heads back and forth. If you notice that your rodent's head just fits through the bars and could possibly get trapped, it is advisable to remove the hay rack from the enclosure and choose one with a smaller bar distance.
The Tierschutz-Kennzeichen (Animal Welfare Seal) is the only official seal of approval for products that comply with the Austrian Animal Welfare Act. It is awarded by the Fachstelle für tiergerechte Tierhaltung und Tierschutz (FTT), an independent body established by the legislator, and guarantees compliance with animal welfare regulations.
In order to be certified, the products must meet the requirements of the Austrian Animal Welfare Act, including the associated regulations. The assessment is based on legal requirements, current scientific findings and practical experience, comparisons with similar products and inspection and testing of the products.
Each product assessed and positively evaluated by the Fachstelle is given a unique test number with the Tierschutz-Kennzeichen, with which it is clearly recognisable. The test number consists of the year, a number for the animal category and a serial number.

De hooiruif zelf is prima, maar het in elkaar zetten is echt een hel. Het was fijn geweest als de gaten voorgeboord zouden zijn. Het is nauwelijks in elkaar te schroeven daardoor en daar baal ik van.
