Kapok Nesting material for small rodents!

Kapok is animal-friendly nesting material that, thanks to its thin, easily tearable fibres, is ideal for use as nesting material for small rodents. Kapok is extra soft and warming, but also digestible and dust-free. In accordance with animal welfare as defined in § 18 (AT, Germany)

The main advantage of kapok fiber is that it is safe and non-toxic to humans and animals. It is also hypoallergenic, which means it is less likely to cause allergic reactions in pets.

The kapok fibre is a very soft, fine and especially fragile fibre. Because of its appearance, these fibres are often confused with hamster cotton wool, but that is completely unjustified. In appearance, both products may look similar, but in terms of texture, composition and material, they are completely different products that have no properties in common.

Kapok keeps the nest dry

The kapok fiber is a water-repellent fiber that keeps moisture out of the nest. This way the nest is always nice and dry and the humidity will not be too high quickly. This is very pleasant during warm days.

Nice and warm on cold days

Kapok fibre is wonderfully warm. When it comes to nesting material, there is no other material that can match it when it comes to warmth. It is wonderfully insulated and retains its temperature. The animals experience this as very pleasant. It is nice to know that small rodents regulate their nest temperature themselves. If it gets too warm, they remove nesting material from the nest in order to lower the temperature.

Instructions for use Kapok

This kapok has already been peeled and no longer contains seeds. It is sufficient to place a tuft of kapok in the enclosure. The animals know exactly what to do with it and will take the tufts to their nest.

Kapok is actually only suitable for small rodents that make nests such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters and gerbils. The seeds that can be found in kapok are also eaten by the animals. Kapok actually has no function for the larger rodents.

The Animal Welfare Quality Mark

The Tierschutz-Kennzeichen (Animal Welfare Seal) is the only official seal of approval for products that comply with the Austrian Animal Welfare Act. It is awarded by the Fachstelle für tiergerechte Tierhaltung und Tierschutz (FTT), an independent body established by the legislator, and guarantees compliance with animal welfare regulations.

In order to be certified, the products must meet the requirements of the Austrian Animal Welfare Act, including the associated regulations. The assessment is based on legal requirements, current scientific findings and practical experience, comparisons with similar products and inspection and testing of the products.

Each product assessed and positively evaluated by the Fachstelle is given a unique test number with the Tierschutz-Kennzeichen, with which it is clearly recognisable. The test number consists of the year, a number for the animal category and a serial number.
