The Chinchilla enclosure can be expanded in many different ways. With a few natural components, platforms or tunnels, the boring Chinchilla cage is transformed in no time into a play paradise for your Chinchillas.
Chinchillas are excellent jumpers and climbers. Platforms are therefore one of the favourite hangouts for chinchillas. Chinchillas are real gnawers. The most ideal is therefore a gnaw-proof platform. An example of a gnaw-proof platform is an aluminium platform. Chinchillas will not be able to gnaw these to pieces and therefore a gnaw-proof platform lasts by far the longest. Wooden platforms are also very popular. However, wood has the major disadvantage that chinchillas can gnaw it to pieces. Therefore it is important to always offer sufficient alternative gnawing material/gnawing wood. Some caution is also required with platforms with nails or staples. These items must be checked daily. When the chinchilla has gnawed so much that a nail or staple is almost exposed, the platform must be replaced. We also have nail-free wooden platforms. These are gnaw-proof, but will still not last as long as a gnaw-proof platform.
