Chinchillas like to sit on elevated platforms. These animals are excellent jumpers, because they live in rocky areas in the wild. In addition to a spacious cage with sufficient challenge and gnawing material, platforms can enrich the living space for the Chinchillas.
Chinchillas are real rodents. The most ideal is therefore a gnawing-proof plateau. An example of a gnawing-proof plateau is an aluminum plateau. The Chinchillas will not be able to gnaw these to pieces and therefore a gnawing-proof plateau lasts by far the longest.
The wooden plateaus are also very popular. However, wood has the big disadvantage that the Chinchillas can gnaw it to pieces. That is why it is important to always offer sufficient alternative gnawing material/gnawing wood .
Also, some caution is required with platforms with nails or staples. These items should be checked daily. When the Chinchilla has gnawed so much that a nail or staple is almost exposed, the platform should be replaced. We also have nail-free wooden platforms and products . These are gnaw-proof, but will still last less long than a gnaw-proof platform.
