What are his Gerbil toys?
Well, we think these are things that the Gerbils enjoy in one way or another. Take, for example, a toy made of straw to enjoy teething and demolition. It may sound a bit strange to buy something that is going to be demolished, but the animals need something like that too. During demolition, the teeth are flossed and sharpened and this naturally prevents boredom and therefore problem behavior!
What different toys are there for Gerbils?
The objective in particular is important when choosing a toy. For example, one toy has the purpose of training. These are intelligence toys, where the animals have to look for treats. These toys ensure that the animals receive a mental challenge and do not get bored. The reward after finding the treat provides a great positive stimulus and makes the animals happy.
-
Digging and Tunnel Toys: Gerbils love to dig and make tunnels. Give them digging toys such as sandboxes or deep bowls filled with chinchilla sand in which they can dig and dig tunnels.
-
Hiding places: Provide hiding places where gerbils can feel safe, such as small houses, coconuts or tubes that they can crawl into.
-
Gnawing toys: Gerbils love to gnaw, so give them toys that are safe to nibble on, such as wooden blocks, willow branches or unpainted cardboard tubes. This also helps wear down their teeth.
-
Exercise wheels: An exercise wheel is an essential toy for gerbils. We have a separate category for these, where you will find all exercise wheels that are suitable for gerbils.
As we mentioned earlier, there are also "demolition toys", we just need them too!
TIP! Willow balls are super fun! Take a willow ball, hide some pumpkin seeds in it and let the Gerbils struggle to get the pumpkin seeds out.
There are also toys that can be placed in the enclosure occasionally, such as a maze for example.
Why are foraging toys good for Gerbils?
❤ Encourage natural behavior: Foraging toys imitate the natural behavior of Gerbils , namely looking for food in their environment. Challenging them to search and dig for their food stimulates their natural instincts and keeps them active and satisfied.
❤ Physical Activity: Foraging toys encourage Gerbils to be active and exercise. They have to walk around, dig, push and pull to get to the rewards. This promotes exercise and helps maintain a healthy weight and good physical condition.
❤ Enrichment of the environment: Foraging toys add an element of challenge and variety to Gerbils ' living environment. It makes their daily life more interesting and prevents them from getting bored in a monotonous environment. This can lead to better overall well-being.
❤ Prevents Overeating: Foraging toys make the feeding process slower and more challenging. This means that Gerbils have to make more effort to get to their food, which means they cannot eat large quantities in one go. This helps prevent overeating and weight problems.
In short, foraging toys for Gerbils provide both physical and mental stimulation, help prevent boredom and promote natural behavior. It's a great way to improve their well-being and quality of life.
