Degus are active during the day. In the wild, they are constantly walking, climbing and digging. The ground cover for degus must be at least 20 cm thick, so that the animals can dig nicely. The thicker the better.
Various types of ground cover can be used. In any case, a diggable ground cover must be used, in which a layer of at least 20 cm is filled. This can also be achieved by using a digging bucket filled with a diggable ground cover. An extra absorbent ground cover can be used for the pee corner. A well-absorbent ground cover can also be used as a base layer under the diggable ground cover.
