A degu only needs about one to two teaspoons of dry food per day. This depends on the type of food. Always refer to the back of the food packaging for the correct nutritional advice. So the degu actually only needs a very small food bowl. It is useful to have a separate feeding bowl for each animal. There are food bowls that can be placed down, but also food bowls that can be hung in the cage. There is also a difference in the weight of the food bowls. If the degus have a tendency to knock over the food bowl, it is wise to choose a heavier version.
