What exactly is JR Farm Dari Kolf Harvest?

The Dari Kolf Harvest consists of sturdy ears of the dari plant (sorghum), with seeds that your animal can peel off itself. A natural, challenging snack!

Which animals is the Dari Kolf suitable for?

For granivorous and omnivorous rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils and rats. Herbivorous animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs may occasionally have a few seeds as a treat.

Why only limited suitability for herbivores?

Dari contains a lot of starch and carbohydrates, which herbivores are sensitive to. Too much can lead to digestive problems. A few seeds every now and then is fine as a reward.

What are the benefits of the Dari Kolf Harvest?

It stimulates natural foraging behaviour: searching for seeds, peeling and eating them yourself. This keeps your animal mentally active and physically occupied.

How do I give the dari cob to my animal?

You can place the pump loose in the enclosure or hang it up. Let your animal get started with it. This prevents boredom and imitates natural behavior.

Is the Dari Kolf a complete food?

No, it is a supplementary snack. Give it as enrichment next to a complete main food.

Is Dari Kolf Harvest suitable for Hamsterscaping?

Yes! Dari Harvest is great to use in hamster scaping. Hamster scaping is all about approaching the natural behavior of the animals. Small rodents such as mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, gerbils and rats are real seed eaters (granivores), by offering seed rich harvest such as the Dari the natural behavior of the animals is addressed. Animals that can show their natural behavior are happy and feel good, so it is very important for the health of the animal.

Do all Rodents and Rabbits like the Dari Harvest?

Yes, for sure! The Dari Harvest falls under the harvest with seeds , which is different from harvest with leaves or harvest with herbs . The harvest with seeds is as food the best suited for the Granivore (seed eating) rodents, such as mouse, dwarf hamster, hamster, gerbil and rat.

Does Dari Oogst provide a challenge for rodents?

Yes, definitely! Dari Oogst provides a lot of challenge because the animals have to harvest the seeds from the plant themselves. After all, the seeds are not offered separately but have to be removed from the plant and that provides extra enrichment which we also call feed enrichment.

How should I offer the Dari Harvest?

There are many ways to offer the Dari Harvest, also depending on the objective. You can simply place the Dari Harvest on the ground cover, but if you want your animal to make an effort, you can place the Dari upright in the ground cover, with a layer of at least 20 cm that is perfectly possible.

It is also possible to attach these to the bars of the enclosure with a snack clamp .
It is also possible to attach the Dari to glass using a suction cup clamp .

How do rodents eat the Dari Harvest?

All rodents eat the Dari in their own way, some rodents hold it with their hands and others nibble it off. Many small rodents will take the seeds to their nest and store them there for later.

Can animals get fat from Dari Oogst?

Although Dari seeds are rich in fat, these are healthy fats that are essential for the health of the animals, so they are not extremely fattening.

How is the Dari Harvest stored in our country?

It is nice to know that we receive this harvest directly from the producer and can therefore offer a very good freshness. In our warehouse, the harvest is stored cool, dry and UV-free. The latter is important to prevent the breakdown of nutrients by UV light. We therefore recommend to always store the harvest dark, cool and dry.

Onze dwerghamster vind de dari kolf erg lekker. Als we een stukje in zijn kooi leggen begint hij meteen met eten. Hij is wel erg groot dus wij geven kleine stukjes per keer.
