A Chinchilla cage should be spacious and somewhat higher. Chinchillas love to jump and climb, so a somewhat higher cage is very nice for them. All cages are equipped with plateaus, so that the animals have several places to sit. Chinchillas find it very pleasant to sit somewhat higher on a plateau.
How big should the Chinchilla cage be?
A good Chinchilla cage is at least 1.5 m high and has a depth of 50 cm. Chinchillas are social animals that prefer to live together in a group. They should therefore always be kept with at least two animals. The more animals there are, the larger the cage should be.
How can you get chinchillas more exercise?
Chinchillas love to run. They can jump and walk around in their cage, but they can't really sprint. We therefore advise you to let your chinchillas out every day in a "chinchilla-proof" room or to purchase an exercise wheel for your animals so they can really get rid of their energy. We have special exercise wheels for chinchillas. These are large enough and are made of 100% gnaw-proof aluminum.
