At Oxbow, we started with a farmer, a very talented farmer. John Miller, the founder of Oxbow, was a fifth-generation hay farmer and a true master of his craft. He worked day and night to produce the very best hay, even if it meant harvesting at night in the dark. His reputation as a hay master was unmatched and his hay was considered the crème de la crème on the market.

But John saw more than just hay. He saw a community of small animals hungry for good nutrition and education. He decided to revolutionize the rodent world and so our family business was born in 1980.
