Let’s first take a look at the history of JR Farm. The story began on an ordinary farm called Pessenburgheim in Bavaria. There, the Ruisinger family shared their lives with a colorful collection of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, geese and goats. At that time, there wasn’t much choice when it came to animal feed, so animal lover Herta Ruisinger decided to use the harvest as food for her furry and feathered friends. She delved deeply into the animals’ eating habits, and together with her husband Jakob Ruisinger, she began developing animal feed that was based on the well-being of their beloved creatures. The success was unstoppable, and so JR Farm GmbH (JR stands for Jakob Ruisinger) was founded in 1997. Sales of natural products grew steadily, and soon the farm became too small. So that same year, the Ruisinger family decided to build their own company building on the edge of the village.

To ensure consistent quality, JR Farm has been certified annually since 2006 according to ISO9001:2000, including the HACCP concept. In 2008, they even added a bakery to the company, resulting in a completely new production line for rodent and bird biscuits, as well as baked sticks. Stefan Ruisinger, one of the three sons of Herta and Jakob Ruisinger, also joined the company as the third manager in the same year. He has been closely involved in the company from an early age and completed his training as a salesperson in 2012. With a growing sales market throughout Europe, a larger warehouse was needed in 2010. Today, more than 200 employees work there and the company buildings cover around 6,200 square meters. JR Farm still grows many herbs, such as nettle, peppermint and lemon balm, in their own fields. This not only helps to produce affordable, high-quality food, but also to package the food fresh from the land without much transportation. Despite the growth, the Ruisinger family remains down to earth and true to their village roots. The boss himself is responsible for the harvest of the fields and remains closely connected to their original values.
